Atty. Michael J. Lukakis

Atty. Michael J. Lukakis, age 76, of Englewood FL, passed away on Thursday, March 21, 2024 at Sarasota Memorial Hospital. He was born in Holyoke, son of the late Nike and Florence (Mouroutsos) Lukakis and was a graduate of Holyoke High School. Mike was a 1970 graduate of the University of Massachusetts, Amherst and received his Juris Doctorate from Suffolk University Law School in 1973. Michael worked as an attorney for the United States Department of Labor for several years, and went on to earn his Master’s in Law from NYU Law School in 1978. He was a longtime partner in the law firm of Chartier, Ogan, Brady and Lukakis in Holyoke, retiring in 2014. He was always active in the community and his church. Mike served on the Board of Directors of the Holyoke Youth Baseball League and Holyoke Children’s Museum, was a member of the Massachusetts Bar Association, and past president of the Western Mass Chapter of the Leukemia Society of America. Michael was a lifelong member of Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church, and served as a member of the parish council for many years. He also served the Greek Orthodox communities of Holy Trinity, Saint Luke, Sts. Constantine & Helen and Saint George Cathedral as a lawyer pro-bono to assist those in need. He was a member of Holyoke Lodge of Elks # 902, the Shriners, and the Masonic Lodge. He is survived by his beloved wife of 29 years, Anne T. (Papulis) Lukakis; a loving daughter, Danielle Vadakin, a son-in-law Joshua Vadakin, who was like a son to him, and a cherished granddaughter, Avery Anna Vadakin; the matriarch of the family, his cherished aunt Catherine Luke, as well as many special cousins and adored nieces and nephews, and a sister, Nikki Lukakis of FL. The funeral will be held Thursday, March 28th at 11:00 a.m. at Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church, 410 Main Street, Holyoke. A calling hour will be held in the church on Thursday morning prior to the service from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. Committal prayers will be held Monday, April 1, 2024 at 11:00 a.m. at Fairview Cemetery, Fanjoy Drive, Chicopee.
