Helen E. (Romenius) Rogers, age 108, of Holyoke, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, April 10, 2024. She was born in Holyoke, a daughter of the late William and Rose (Elias) Romenius and graduated from Holyoke High School. Helen worked for many years as a paraprofessional in the Holyoke school system, and was a dedicated United Way volunteer. She was a lifelong communicant of Holy Cross Church of Our Lady of the Cross parish, where she was a member of the Women’s Club. She was an avid fan of the New York Yankees and the University of Notre Dame football team. Helen was the widow of Joseph F. Rogers who predeceased her in 2008. Helen is survived by a daughter, Ginger Baker of Ashland, two grandsons, Dennis (Meghan) and their children, Elizabeth and Olivia; Matthew (Amy) and their children, Emma, Christopher, Ryan and Thomas, and 2 generations of nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by four siblings: Emily Simon, Mary Moffett, Anthony Romenius and Juliet Kennedy. A Mass of Christian Burial for Helen will be held Tuesday morning, April 16th at 10:30 a.m. in Our Lady of the Cross Parish Church, Holy Cross Avenue. Burial will be private. A calling hour will be held in the church on Tuesday morning from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hospice Life Care, 575 Beech Street, Holyoke MA 01040.
