Helene A. O'Connor

Helene A. (Hartnett) O’Connor, age 89, passed away peacefully March 22, 2024 at Baystate Medical Center with her loving family by her side. Helene was born in New York, New York daughter of the late John and Madeline Hartnett. She was a registered nurse at Providence Hospital for many years, concentrating on pediatric care. Helene was a former member of the Knights of Columbus Council #4044 and parishioner of Saint Patrick Church in South Hadley. She was predeceased by her husband Hugh O’Connor as well as her daughter Carolyn Champagne. She is survived by her son Michael O’Connor of Chicopee; two grandchildren: Kayleigh O’Connor and Dylan O’Connor; a brother, John Hartnett of Washington; and a sister Carol Pratt of Connecticut; as well as many nieces and nephews.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday March 27 at 10:00am in Saint Patrick Church, 30 Main Street, South Hadley followed by burial in Saint Jerome Cemetery, Holyoke. A calling hour will be held in the church Wednesday from 9:00am to 10:00am. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in memory of Helene to St. Jude Childrens Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
