Timothy Curran Obituary

Timothy J. Curran was born in Holyoke, MA on April 3, 1952, beloved son of the late Timothy F. Curran and Mary Rose (McAndrew) Curran. Tim attended St. Jerome Grammar School and graduated from Holyoke Catholic High School, class of 1970. After high school, Tim worked at Curran Construction while also bartending at Driscoll’s Cafe and the American Legion Post 325 until he pursued a career with the Commonwealth. In April 2015, Tim retired after 35 years of service as a Massachusetts State Police Laborer. Predeceased by his parents and brothers Michael Curran and Edward “Brian” Curran, Tim leaves behind the love of his life, wife Mary Ann, his two children Matt & Kelly along with 6 grandchildren; Stephania, Ariana, Michaela, Jalen, Zachary and Amaya and five great grandchildren who brought joy to his life.  Tim also leaves his aunt and uncle, Joseph and Pat McAndrew, and Pecia McAndrew, along with several cousins, sister in-law Patricia Doyle, his niece and nephew. Tim treated his children’s friends like they were his own. He considered Jilena Cichon his daughter and her children Dymi and Jeric his grandchildren.  An avid lover of the outdoors, Tim loved to go camping in a tent, hunting and fishing while creating great memories with friends and family. He was an active member of the K of C Council 90 and Son’s of the American Legion Post 325 where he enjoyed spending time with friends that turned into family. Tim’s final days were spent vacationing on Cape Cod and having a great time with his wife and several friends when on the last day, he suddenly collapsed. The Curran family would like to thank the nurses and doctors from the Cape Cod Hyannis Emergency Room and ICU unit, especially Nurse Helena and Dr. Karib for the wonderful care and support during Tim’s final moments. Though Tim has departed from this earth, his spirit lives on in the hearts of all who had the privilege of knowing him. May the memories you shared with him be a source of comfort and strength in the days ahead. The funeral will be held Tuesday morning, April 2nd at 9:00 a.m. from the Barry J. Farrell Funeral Home, 2049 Northampton Street, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m. in Saint Jerome Church, 169 Hampden Street. Burial will follow at Saint Jerome Cemetery. Calling hours will be held Monday, April 1st from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. Please donate to a charity of your choice in Tim’s name.
