Victor Manuel Rivera

Victor Manuel Rivera also known as (Papi),( Vitin), or (Titin) 85 years old unfortunately passed away peacefully at home with family on Tuesday morning April 16,2024.He was born August 6th ,1938 in San Juan , Puerto Rico to Father Manuel Rivera and Mother Luz Valentin. He was a proud resident of Holyoke Massachusetts. He is leaving behind his wife of 36 years Martha Stella Rivera and children Luz Maria, Carmen, Angelina, Carlos, David, Yamaries, Angel, Victor Jr, Victoria (Cha-Chi) Victoria (Vicky), and Dayanara Rivera. He also leaves a few deceased children as well. Victor was a very hard- working man. He left Puerto Rico at a young age to seek opportunity in Western United States. He worked for PVTA for almost 30 years. He then worked for Chicopee Laidlaw bus company for almost 20 years. Victor had a severe stroke in November 2012 during his employment time at Budget Rental. He then quickly made a miraculous recovery. Finally, after retiring, he knew that wasn’t what life had in store for him just yet. He decided to became a crossing guard for the city of Holyoke for the last 10 years. When he then was diagnosed with cancer in February of 2023. In May of 2023 Victor retired from being a crossing guard due to his health decline. Victor had always been a man about his precious family. He loved each and every one of his children dearly. He made sure none of his children were ever left in any need by any means. He also leaves behind many nieces and nephews, his grandchildren, great grandchildren and even great-great grandchildren. Many can attest that Victor was the life of the room, the jokester always making someone laugh or better yet crack a smile. Victor was a great man, husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, coworker and even simply just a friend. Victor just had a heart of gold and laugh and smile that just lit up the darkest room. Victor will be greatly missed by his loving rather large family, and friends. The funeral will be held Monday morning, April 22nd at 10:00 from the Barry J. Farrell Funeral Home, 2049 Northampton Street, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 a.m. in Saint Jerome Church, 169 Hampden Street. Calling hours will be held at the funeral home on Monday morning from 8:30 to 10:00 a.m.
