Lorraine F. (Linko) Janis

Lorraine F Janis, 95, of Holyoke passed away February 11, 2026 at East Longmeadow Skilled Nursing Center. Lorraine was born May 27, 1930 in Chicopee, the daughter of Lawrence and Valerie (Wojcik) Linko. She was raised and educated in Chicopee, graduating from Chicopee High School. Lorraine had a variety of jobs, including teaching nursery school with her sister. The majority of her career was spent at Massachusetts Mutual Life Insurance Company in Springfield, from which she retired in 1992 after over 30 years of service. In addition to her dedication to family, home, and career, Lorraine loved to travel. She enjoyed several trips to Europe and exploring the U.S., but her favorite journeys were the annual visits to Stowe, VT for cross country skiing and Boothbay Harbor, ME for deep sea fishing. Lorraine's faith was important to her, and she was a devoted member of Our Lady of the Cross in Holyoke. Her beloved husband of almost 62 years, Chester, passed away in 2016. She was predeceased by her two sisters, Connie Whalen of Northampton and Beverly Mokrzecky of Amherst and Florida. She leaves a daughter, Deborah, of Holyoke. She also leaves several nieces and nephews, including Sara Whalen (Steve Broide) of Florence; David Whalen of Dalton; Lawrence Whalen of Ft. Meyers, FL and Hatfield; Carol Eshleman (Tony) of Fairfax, VA; and Cheryl Mokrzecky (Roger Diebel) of Dallas, TX. Thanks to the staff at East Longmeadow Skilled Nursing for the excellent care provided to Lorraine. Calling hours will be from 3:00 pm to 5:00 pm on Monday, February 16, 2026 at Barry J Farrell Funeral Home, 2049 Northampton St., Holyoke, MA. The funeral will be February 17, 2026 at 9:00 am from the funeral home and 10:00 am at Our Lady of the Cross Church, Holy Cross Ave., Holyoke, MA, followed by burial at St. Stanislaus Cemetery in Chicopee. Donations in Lorraine's memory may be made to Our Lady of the Cross Church or St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
